Hey everyone!
So basically I have been OBSESSED with the idea of keeping up with my house. Granted, I am only sixteen, but I still want to know the process of keeping up with a home. So if you are young like me but are still eager to learn about what goes in to keeping a home, I have some helpful tips.
1. Start Small- I started with seeing how long I could keep my bedroom clean and fresh and keeping it up to date. I make my bed every day, change my sheets once a week, keep my bathroom clean, etc. Once you can master this and it turns in to a habit, you can add more things.
2. Dip your toes in the kitchen- I can honestly say that keeping up with the kitchen is a lot easier than you would think. Unload and load the dishwasher. Don't leave dishes in the sink. Ask to make dinner once a week (or more once you can handle it). After you're done, wipe all the counters off and the table. Once you can master the kitchen and the bedroom, head to the laundry.
3. Caring for clothes- This is as difficult task to master. I still haven't mastered it yet and I still get frustrated. But don't get discouraged! Start by making sure all dirty clothes make it to the hamper, and are turned right side out. Also make sure all clean clothes get put away. Then, when you're ready, learn how to sort clothes. I have trouble with this. Some colors can be mixed, some can't. Some things are considered delicates, others aren't. Some can be put in the dryer, others have to be hung. It all depends on your clothes and machine. I know my sheets take 2 hours to do, because my mom puts them on the sanitary cycle in the washer. Ask the person who does laundry in your home for help.
4. Keeping the home clean- Keep the living room organized, remotes put away, blankets folded, etc. Also keep the shelves and television dusted. Vacuum the carpet once a week or dust the hardwood. Keep things tidy but still welcoming. Add a warm scented candle or a diffuser (we have several, we use them all over the house) and add some lavender oil or some wild orange or even grapefruit. (I recommend DÅTerra, my mom is a representative and I teach classes) Oils are great and will liven up your home and keep you happy and healthy.
5. Finances- You may be young, but you need to know about money. Keep track of your money. If you have a checking account, keep track of it along with your debit card. If you have online banking you can check it that way, otherwise keep a deposit record and a binder of statements and important contracts. You should also open a savings account and save money periodically. I have a job, and I will usually save half of my paycheck, or sometimes even more. For example, if I get payed one hundred and eighty three dollars, I will put one hundred in my savings and the rest in my checking, for gas, food, fun, etc. Even if you don't know what you're saving for, it's always good to have. I have no clue what I am saving for but I still am very active in putting money in the account.
I hope these tips helped! Leave a comment, question, or just say hello.
Love always,

Rooibos Latte!
This is so exciting!!! I am doing my first tea recipe. I am a HUGE tea lover, and this one is one of my absolute favorites!!!
Blueberry Rooibos Latte
1/2 cup water, boiling
1 1/4 cup milk of your choice (almond, cow)
Rooibos tea! I use blueberry.
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Tea infuser
Small Strainer
Whisk
Honey to taste
Cinnamon for decoration!
So what you need to do is start by boiling your water for your tea. Then take it off the heat and steep your tea for about 5 minutes. Add vanilla extract. Then start heating your milk in a saucepan or in the microwave, then whisk. Pour the tea first, followed by the milk until it looks sort of pink. Then add honey to taste, and garnish with cinnamon!! Super easy and super yummy. Here are some pictures!
This is really an awesome tea for those cozy, rainy days like I am having here in Tennessee!
Thats all for now Prepsters,
Until next time!

Prep Tips
Good afternoon!
A LOT of prep bloggers and youtubers love to do a sort of "basics" post on preppy tips and things like that. Everyone has their own take on it, so I'm going to show you mine!
1. BE NICE!!!: This is like, golden rule here. The stereotype that most preps get is very "high school Blair" (in other words-SNOB). The reality is being sweet, honest and kind. Be sincere and not rude, and PLEASE be up to date on etiquette and manners. And let me tell you sometime
2. Educate yourself: Please notice that it is not all about the clothes. You need to stay up to date on current events and attempt to do well in school. Keep your vocabulary well rounded.
3. Modesty, Modesty, Modesty!: Being modest is one of the key parts of being a true prep. Now don't get me wrong-showing a little skin can be beautiful, and I don't mean to wear long sleeve, one piece body swimsuits. But showing your butt or too much cleavage. And for guys-well just don't show your butt, I suppose..;)And be modest in the way you behave. This goes hand in hand with etiquette. Don't brag too much or be too loud, things of that nature.
4. Wellness: Caring for yourself is another, extremely significant tip. You should care about yourself and love yourself and be around people you love and who make you happy. You should also eat a full healthy diet, and exercise to be healthy and be happy, and FEEL GOOD!!!
5. Hygiene and Care: Those key words are so so so so so important! Keeping a good hygiene routine is crucial. Shower or bathe daily, and keep up with your hair. As far as being a prep goes, natural hair or even straightened or loosely curled is best as long as there is no frizz or dirt. After I shower, I put pure coconut oil on my ends to cure the split ends in between haircuts. This is a natural, great tip to use. You can find coconut oil in a jar at any food store! Try and take care of your skin with a good skincare line. I recommend Dermologica, which is a dermal clay cleanser with a toner and moisturizer trio. This got rid of my athletic acne in 4 days!!!! I use it at night, and sometimes in the mornings. You can buy this at Ulta or any beauty store, or online. I also recommend a good eye cream. I know, yes I know that it is typically used on older women, and it is NOT recommended to use an anti-aging line. I use equate moisturizing eye cream. It has a little bit of caffeine and an agent for dark circles, but other than that, its purely a moisturizer for the eyes. And its not that expensive, either!! I got mine at Wal Mart. Just take care of yourself. :)
6. The Style :): This is the one you've been waiting for, I know. Well I guess we will go from head to toe. Hairstyles of a prep, including myself, typically include natural waves, straight or curled, a sleek ponytail or a side braid. I will sometimes wear a headband, (very Blair) and sometimes I will wear a bow (very southern). As for makeup, some preps go very natural, and others lots of coverage. Personally I am in the middle. I wear Bare Minerals foundation, a matte powder, and eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara. That is it! I almost always wear pearls, and I have either a matching pearl necklace or my monogram necklace on. I actually purchased mine my freshman year of high school, and it has lasted me forever! Now we move to tops. Alright so the possibilities are endless, but if you are new to the prep world, first of all WELCOME and second of all you need BASICS. SAY IT WITH ME. B. A. S. I. C. S. BASICS. Sorry ok. But for shirt basics, I recommend any sort of button down oxford shirt, in whatever fit you prefer, I have slim and classic. Ralph Lauren offers great selections, as well as Brooks Brothers. For a less expensive option, you could always try Kohls, TJ Maxx or JC Penny. Dillard's has a Ralph Lauren section that offers great prices for button downs. I would start with a white one, because these look great with everything, and can be worn alone or layered. Then other colors can come in. I also recommend some polos! Any color. These are also great for layering. Sweaters and tunics and fun nautical colors; remember to always be patriotic. Love yo country! For bottoms have some good, dark jeans and some khakis, leggings, skirts, dresses, just modest. Have some tights and a black belt and brown belt. Don't mix the colors. Brown with brown, black with black. Same with metals. Gold with gold, silver with silver. Some great brands for clothes are Vineyard Vines, Lilly Pulitzer, Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, Gap, Old Navy, Tory Burch, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., anything of that nature I would definitely look in to!

Happy March, Prepsters!
I am still thoroughly enjoying all the ice and rain in Tennessee, simply because I just love winter! Today at school we only had a half day, so I am home a little earlier than usual. This gives me more time to get my homework done! Getting all of this stuff out of the way will be beneficial to me, especially since I have to work Spring Break. As soon as I drove home from school, I really wanted some vanilla chai tea. I am obsessed with this stuff, y'all. I just hope one day I can get some authentic Chai made on the stove!!!!
So my outfit for today included:

This blazer is one of my favorite pieces! I got it at Ralph Lauren a few seasons ago.
This white oxford is also from Ralph Lauren! My skirt is from Gap; I got it for Christmas! I love it, but sometimes it gets itchy! I just paired it with some sheer black tights and some ballet flats! :)
Take care, prepsters!

Coffee, Kisses and Cozy Snow Days
Hey there Prepsters!
So, not only were we off of school today, but we get tomorrow off too! It snowed 6 fluffy inches of beautiful white snow today, and I couldn't be happier. I love the snow and winter, and I cuddled up with my dog LuLu and my dad. My mom unfortunately has a cold so she stayed in bed today. I did manage to do some of my homework, and clean my room and closet. Enjoy the rest of your day and enjoy your snow!
Love always,
